My students need a larger library including "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and "Anne of Green Gables" so that they have constant access to brand new books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember going to the library as a kid and picking up the perfect book to take home? Many of my students do not have that opportunity. Our classroom library is the only chance many of them get to find an interesting book to read. My goal is to provide them with a wealth of literature to read.
My students are 4th graders at a small charter school, where our motto is "College for Certain." Early on, we instill in them a passion for learning and a desire to attend and graduate from college.
My students are from an area that historically has had a low high school graduation rate, and an even lower college graduation rate. They are eager to learn, have a passion for reading and take charge of their education.
My Project
These resources will help provide my students with the library that they deserve. By funding this project you will validate the importance of reading. Unfortunately, many don't have access to public libraries and our school no longer has the funding to be able to purchase new sets of books each year. Funding this project will give them a set of brand new books to read. Silent reading is my students' favorite time of the day and I want to make sure that they have constant access to new literature. By providing these books my students will be able to have book clubs where they discuss and recommend books to their peers. They'll learn how to appreciate reading for leisure and it will help foster their passion for literature.
This project will have a lasting impression upon my students.
It will let them know that their education is valued and important. Classroom libraries are necessary to any learning environment. Providing these resources for them will give them the access to books that many of them don't have. I want to enrich their lives through literature and these books will help me achieve that goal.
