My Project

Help me give the gift of literacy to all of my students. I am blessed to teach incredible children from all walks of life. Some that have been raised here their entire lives and some that are new to America and to school. It is so important that all of my students see themselves represented in our class library.

Students seeing many languages and cultures in the books they read helps build community and empathy amongst all students.

Students that are new to the country gain feelings of comfort and acceptance when they see themselves represented in the books they read. It also helps them feel more comfortable as they work to adapt to a new life in a new land.

The reading pillows will help provide a cozy spot for students to gather and share their books with each other. They will help promote our multi-lingual and multi-cultural classroom community.
