This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With your help, I would like to expose my multilingual students to high-quality literature that can be enjoyed by all of my classes for years to come! We currently reading "Because of Mr. Terupt", and the students have eagerly requested the sequel, "Mr. Terupt Falls Again".
The "Mr. Terupt" series is a fantastic read-aloud that supports all areas of literacy development, including language and vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, fluency, and phonological awareness.
It also has the added benefit of bolstering the students' social and emotional development.
I am fortunate enough to work at a Title I school with a large population of second-language learners. These students benefit from being exposed to high-quality literature with characters they can identify with and learn from!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
