Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
First graders are awesome little sponges! They love to learn. My class of eager students comes to school each day ready for me to help them workout their brain muscles. They want to absorb everything I have to give them. They bring a wonderful diversity of cultures and languages that they can share with me and each other. They make me want to do everything I can to help them reach their potential. The love of learning I see in them now I hope to develop, and hope that it will continue throughout their lives.
My Project
My students are eager to learn how to read. The best way to learn how to read is to read each and every day. Students should be reading independent level books and hearing read alouds.
Reading should be fun and books should capture the attention of its reader.
My classroom library has a limited number of emergent level books and the ones we do have do not spark the interest of the students. My students have no desire to read the same books. Adding new books to the library would build such excitement in my readers. This alone will help improve their reading!
