My Students

I teach third-grade students at a Title I elementary school in rural North Carolina. Although our school is located in a prosperous and thriving neighborhood my students don't live in this area. Most of my students come from low socioeconomic households.

Like most children, my students come to school to find a sense of belonging and because of the lasting relationships that are built with their teachers and peers.

My students are eager to come to school. They love interacting with their peers and teachers who become family to them. As a teacher I want to share as many lasting and enriching experiences with my students that I can. My goal is not only to expand their minds but to help them become responsible and caring members of our global community.

My Project

With this project I will receive literature from all genres for my students to enjoy. They will meet characters that will change their world views and build compassion for others. These literary materials will help my students build reading skills that will last a lifetime. It is important that children learn to love reading at a young age.

My goal as a teacher is to instill a love for literature in my students.

When children love to read their skills will improve and it will help them in all areas of their academic careers.
