My Project
In my honors English class, I run literature circles for the last nine weeks. The theme of the unit is "Adversity" and students are presented with the summary of four novels. Students then choose the novel to read and begin working in groups. I would like to allow the students to keep the novel or pass it along to someone who might also enjoy it.
Allowing students to not only choose what they want to read, but having them teach themselves and others in the groups- having them become the experts- is so rewarding.
This style of learning is much more personal and these novels stick with the students. I supply pacing guides, study guides, and daily check-ins.
