Literature Circle Organization and Lap Desk Storage
Help me give my students a storage rack to store their lap desks in a safe manner, as well as a way to keep their literature circle materials organized.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my class, students utilize lap desks and differentiated instruction. When teaching, if students are having a hard time seeing the board, they can grab a lap seat and come sit on the floor during the lesson. Also, during differentiated instruction, students work in groups for literature circles and use the lap desks to place their book and literature materials on, as well as write notes, discussion questions, and vocabulary.
The lap desk storage is needed for organization and safety.
When it is time to clean up, students put the lap desks on the floor in a pile. While the pile starts off neat, over time they lap desks begin to slant and fall into the walkway. Having a lap desk storage rack will not only keep the lap desks neatly stored, but it will also help maintain a safe classroom environment where the lap desks do not trip students or teachers in the classroom. The storage container will help students store the books and materials they use during their literature circles so clean-up is easy and organized.
