Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach reading intervention to 36 eager, hardworking students. Along with teaching students reading foundational skills. fluency, and comprehension, my job is to keep them engaged and build their confidence by challenging them at their appropriate level.
Literature circles are a fabulous way for small groups of students to read a "good-fit" book independently and meet together once a week to have meaningful and guided discussions.
The Teacher Pay Teacher gift card will be used to purchase literature circle roles and activities that go along with the chosen books.
The calm strips will help my students ground themselves, as I have several students with an extremely difficult time focusing and have sensory issues. These strips are a similar idea to fidget spinners, but they are less bulky and distracting. My students will also love the colored pencils to illustrate their literature circle journal entries.
