My students need folders to create a portfolio for their essay writing and graphic organizer for each reading. The highlighters will help color code their guided close reading.
My students are a group of dedicated, hardworking and motivated students. They will be diligently working to analyze and synthesize Spanish Literature. All of them are very eager and interested in diving into the new content. They have started preparing for the class during the summer. They start by doing flash cards of the literary terms and reading Don Quijote.
Their excitement is reflected in their dedication to work during the summer to come in prepared the first day of school.
In their previous year in my classroom we focused on superficial analysis of some sonnets. This sparked their interest and has motivated them to learn and read Spanish literature. They are also a very competitive group and I know they will do their best to outperform the College Board standards.
My Project
This year it has become my goal for students to become more aware of their growth and achievement throughout the course of the year. In an effort to help them I want to provide them with the materials necessary to create a portfolio. This portfolio will have a graphic organizer for each of the 39 readings the student will cover in class. Then they will keep each essay they write along with the graphic organizer for the same reading.
This portfolio will serve as a study guide for students in the last few weeks in preparation for the AP Exam.
It is my goal that all my students pass the AP Spanish Literature Exam. To help them with this they will also color code their annotations and synthesis for each reading using the requested highlighters. This will help them when writing essays and also help identifying literary terms which can be difficult. In the end this will be a testament of all of their hard work and how incredibly intelligent they are. I believe in their potential and know that with the right tools they will be successful.
