My Project

My thoughtful and motivated AP Literature & Composition students have studied a diverse selection of fiction and poetry throughout the year to not only build skills to be successful on the AP Lit exam, but to also explore how literature can go beyond a single story.

I would like to end the school year after their exam with a Book Club Unit - Fiction in a Changing World: Reflecting Society’s Fears and Hopes - that encourages them, as creative, critical thinkers and compassionate citizens, to show how literature can be both thought provoking and a catalyst for change.

Students will be grouped by their choice of novel. Discussions and activities will include text analysis through a variety of relevant critical lenses and frameworks and research into contemporary connections to identify a relevant issue or issues and options for change. The final project will be an in-depth multimodal presentation to the class of the novel as both a reflection of society and a catalyst for change, with suggestions for real life action on its issues.
