This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I serve students with disabilities that come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Last year, I served grades 3-5. This year, I serve grades k-2. Each year, the grade level may change, but my role stays the same. I provide extra help and interventions to close the learning gap for my students so they may have a more successful learning experience. I travel from classroom to classroom throughout the school day serving these students in reading and math. They need exposure and experience with technology, books, and school supplies.
My Project
My students are economically disadvantaged and have learning disabilities. Often times, they are bored or frustrated with the process of reading. New and interesting books will provide them with an opportunity to practice the skills they know, learn new skills, and expose them to a world bigger than they can imagine! A new book, beautiful illustrations, familiar characters and settings, and fun topics can make all the difference in want to read and wanting to quit. New books will also provide discussion and writing opportunities. Please help my students become excited about reading. Learning to read will change their lives in so many ways!
