I am a speech-language pathologist at an elementary school in a rural community in North Carolina. I serve children between the ages of 3-12. In teaching children to articulate target speech sounds correctly, I have found that one of the most effective ways for the students to make progress is through oral reading. The more they see their target sounds in print, the more they seem to pay attention to that sound and make a mental note to produce that sound correctly orally. With practice, the target sounds start to come out correctly without the children even trying...finally they have reached the goal for which they have been striving. In order to help these children with both their literacy development and their articulation skills, I am in great need of some reading materials that focus on their specific target sounds. Therefore, I am requesting the following books from Super Duper: Articulation and Language Activities, 216 Artic Tickle Stories, Articulation Stories, Month by Month Artic Carryover Fun, and 273 Rhyming Riddles for Artic. Approximately 50 students will benefit from these materials that can be used year after year! Since our students need all the literacy instruction they can get and all the articulation drill work they can get, why not combine the two and have literacy with clarity!
