This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a diverse class of third grade students who attend a Title One school located in a geographical area that is economically challenged. Many of my students are second language learners and are in need of a diverse selection of reading materials for all students.

This is my third year teaching and I am in need of books at my students' independent reading levels in order to improve reading skills and find success in school.

My students are always looking to read new books and enjoy a variety of different genre at various reading levels.

My Project

I am a third grade teacher at a Title 1 school and I am in need of some new books for my growing library. My students love to read and have many opportunities in my classroom to select a book from my library to read. I want them to learn to love reading and to find it fun. Each week students are encouraged to select two books to read and to take small comprehension quizzes on what they have read.

At my school, many of my students do not have access to books in their home and many students are English Language Learners.

One of the quickest ways to improve language learning is by reading. At this age it is crucial to provide interesting book titles to capture students interest and help grow a desire to read. I am hoping to expand my library and help students remain excited about reading!
