This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am looking to get my students excited about literacy! My class has been working so hard this year developing their reading and writing skills through rigorous lessons. We are looking to make the literacy in our classroom come to life. While we are learning about plants, I want my students to see and experience planting themselves, and watch the plant life process. When we are reading about being kind to others and celebrating our differences, I want students to create their own books with the markers and posters that we can share with others at our school and the community. We will use our camera to take pictures of our differences to celebrate. As an ELA class, we are working on our reading fluency through games and interactive activities. As our class is working hard at creating posters and projects, I want them to have a space to gather their materials to show the world what they are learning. Rather than just writing a narrative, I want students to create an animation movie of their narrative with an Animation Studio stop motion animation kit.

I want our learning and literacy to come to life!

I am looking for your help to get the supplies needed to take what my students are learning about in school, and create projects and real life situations that make sense of what they are learning. Literacy is so important to our education, and the only way to make it relevant is by giving real life situations that help them practice what they are learning. It will help my students stay engaged and excited to read and write.
