Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a high need public school with limited resources. Most of the students in my school come from low-income families and are faced with many challenges in their lives. Yet they come to school ready to learn and absorb new knowledge.

School is a place where they can experience the world around them through engaging lessons which include books, art and conversations.

My students are very eager and active students who are full of energy. They need all the support and encouragement the school community can provide.

My Project

My students will be able to play games focused on foundational reading skills such as letter names and sounds, reading simple words, identifying high frequency words and listening to and reading audio storybooks. They will also learn to use the video recording features to record student plays.

My students will use the iPad to improve their literacy skills and integrate the theater arts in an engaging way.

They will have access to apps available for interactive games and engaging stories which they will be able to listen to with the audio features. We already have two iPad minis in our classroom, but we need another iPad so that my 22 students can take turns and share the learning experience!
