My Project

I am exploring a specialized training program known as Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy. This approach is meticulously designed to educate learners on the science of reading, making it particularly advantageous for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges. The program emphasizes targeted instructional strategies that cater to individual learning needs, incorporating systematic phonics instruction as a fundamental component.

These strategies are essential for helping students develop critical literacy skills, such as phonemic awareness, decoding, and comprehension.

I would use this training for multisensory techniques. This involves using sight, sound, touch, and movement to help students connect language with letters and words. By engaging multiple senses, learners can better absorb and retain information, which is especially beneficial for multilingual students who may process language differently.

My lessons will be carefully planned logically, beginning with the basics and gradually moving to more complex concepts. This structure will help my students build a solid foundation and understand the relationship between letters and sounds across different languages. Each student's needs are assessed, and instructions are tailored accordingly. As a dedicated first-grade teacher, I am deeply committed to ensuring that my students have the necessary tools to build a strong foundation in reading. Equipping them with these vital skills not only enhances their academic success but also fosters their confidence and enthusiasm for learning throughout their educational journey.
