Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarteners need a strong foundation in basic skills. They require repetitive practice in order to master new skills and generalize them across different settings. My students are energetic and eager to make progress. Centers and games are a fun way for them to practice and reinforce basic skills.
We are a kindergarten dual language classroom in a public school in Connecticut.
Our students are learning English and Spanish in our program. They are learning to read and write in both languages. Our students are motivated and excited to learn two languages! Many of my students receive free and reduced-price lunch.
My Project
By reinforcing these concepts through games and centers, they don't even know they are working. They feel like they are playing a game. Many of my students do not play a lot of games at home. This fun approach to learning will broaden their exposure to learning through play and deepen their foundational skills.
The centers are referred to as students' work jobs, while I pull groups of students for small group instruction.
They provide a fun and engaging way for students to practice concepts that are taught to them in whole group instruction.
Your donations will greatly improve our classroom experience! While it is very difficult to learn to read, write, and understand reading and phonics, your donation will give us the extra tools we enjoy using when working on these concepts.
