What is this tangle of cords? It is the listening center headphones. My students need wireless headphones for their listening center. They love to listen to stories read aloud, but can't if the cords on the headphones are all tied in knots.
Almost 70% of the students qualify for free or reduced price lunches.
Making learning fun is very important with these students. This year over half of my students read below grade level. It is important to use every opportunity to improve their reading and love of learning. Using a listening center is one way to improve their reading, fluency, and love of reading.
My Project
My students need a wireless headphone station for the listening center. Many times my students have to spend valuable listening time untangling or trading headphones out so they can listen to a story. If they had wireless headphones the center would be easier for them to use and would maximize their time on task.
My students need to read and be read to, in order to improve their reading skills.
A listening center provides another opportunity to read along with or be read a story. By making their listening center easier for them to use, they will have time to listen to more stories.
