This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a small school with at-risk students just minutes from Ferguson, Missouri. My students are from the inner-city. They have varying levels of educational and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are great kids but are in desperate need of inspiration, motivation and representation.
I teach a business course and am really trying to push my students toward entrepreneurship.
Small business ownership can be empowering. This project has the potential to not only help my students but their families and communities as well.
My Project
By supporting this project, you will be help me to teach my students "how to fish" not just "give them fish." This project is going to help increase my students' literacy skills while simultaneously giving them knowledge and skills that can change the trajectory of their life, their families and community.
Books like "Rich Dad, Poor Dad," "Sam Walton: Made in America." and "Founder's At Work" will give them knowledge to resources that are not common or readily available in their communities.
These books and the others in this project will extend the reach of my classroom teachings to further educate, motivate and inspire.
