This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd grade terrific Torchlighters FLY into our school every day eager to start our day and find out what we get to explore next. I love having the opportunity to greet them at our door every day.

I have the opportunity to work with students in the GIFTED and TALENTED program that crave challenges and new experiences.

I look forward to these materials bringing many more light bulb moments to our class and seeing their faces elated from learning. They enjoy being exposed to unique, challenging and targeted learning experiences.

My Project

I am requesting reading center activities for independent and group work. The activities will enable students to be engaged during literacy stations. They will practice phonics skills and vocabulary development with these tools in a hands-on way. The card stock paper, slip pockets and dry-erase markers will allow me to create materials that are designed to capture my scholars during literacy rotations.

My scholars deserve to be met at their level to develop areas that are challenging for them at this time.

These resources will transform skills that could otherwise seem repetitive into interesting activities at their level. The resources will hold students accountable for their learning and help them show their progress as they grow from these experiences.
