This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with many challenges in and out of the classroom. As pre-k teachers, we lay the foundation for a child's love of learning. With a lack of supplies offered from our district, it can be challenging as educators to provide students with fun and unique learning experiences to increase their school age readiness skills.
My students are curious, open minded and determined.
Our classroom services students both typically developing and students who are developmentally delayed. With that being said, my students require a wide range of differentiated instruction in all academic areas in order to develop necessary skills to be prepared for Kindergarten. My students may be delayed in the areas of pre-academic skills, social-emotional development, speech and language development and adaptive skills. They would be thrilled to try out new games and use new materials during instructional time.
My Project
These materials would be used to create fun and creative ways to learn the necessary skills for Early Childhood Development!
All of the generously donated materials provided would increase student engagement, participation and academic growth.
Students will be able to use the letter recognition games, scissor skill workbook and matching activities in small groups or during 1:1 instruction. The fun that they can have with play dough and file folder games will assist in the push for age appropriate social and fine motor skills. Flashcards featuring verbs and adjectives will increase vocabulary to encourage effective communication with teachers and peers.
