Help me give my students a classroom set of the book "Missing May"
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Gaines's classroom raised $174
This project is fully funded
My Students
The students I teach are considered at-risk. Many of them receive free or reduced lunch, are in the foster care system or come from a low socioeconomic community. Research has shown that many of these students often lack the exposure needed for them to compete with their grade-level peers.
Help give young scholars the book, "Missing May" to expand their love for reading and diversify their vocabulary by reading and writing to respond to this heartfelt relatable children's book.
These books will assist ELL, at-risk, and intermediate scholars, allowing them to connect and grow their social-emotional skills and overcome sensitive real-life struggles. In addition, your support will help address the literacy problem within the Clark County School District.
My Project
Students will write a personal narrative of a life changing event and how those events impacted them and changed those around them. In addition it will show them how to develop friendship, loyalty, and compassion for others.
My hope is to ignite their passion to read and write.
My students will have an opportunity to also participate in a pay-it-forward / random act of kindness project to spread love within our school community. By combining these activities, students will develop skills they can use well into adulthood and for a lifetime.
