My Students

I teach a 1st-2nd grade multi-age classroom in an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!

I am a third-year teacher needing some help to equip my classroom with a listening center so my students can read along with the CD's.

There are students who I know are not read to in their homes. If there were 24 of me, I would love to be able to sit down and read with every one of my students. However, there is only one of me and I would love help in reading to my students. What better way than a CD Read-Along?

My Project

I have chosen a set of CD Read-Alongs so that my students will all have the opportunity to be read to. Following along with a book as they are read to is one of the best ways for readers to develop reading skills. The boxed set is filled with 16 different paperback books that students enjoy. Each book has a CD that will read the story as students listen and follow along. I believe that this listening center will help to motivate and encourage my students to practice their reading so that they become more fluent and make lots of progress throughout the year!
