Literacy Links: Strengthening Language, One Story at a Time

Help me give my students access to literacy-based interventions. Using books/storytelling, I can target vocabulary/grammar/narrative skills/comprehension, mirroring how language is used in academics.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Paris's classroom raised $621

My Project

I love my speech and language therapy students because I see their potential, even when others may only see their challenges. I witness their effort, resilience, and small victories that lead to big breakthroughs. Each student brings a unique voice, and I'm committed to helping them find it and use it with confidence.

Literacy-based interventions using books and storytelling support these students by giving them the tools they need to thrive in the classroom.

Through stories, books, and structured language activities, I'm not only improving their vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension—I'm also helping them access the curriculum, participate in discussions, and express their ideas more clearly. Literacy-based therapy mirrors the real demands of school learning, so students can immediately apply what they learn in therapy to reading, writing, and classroom communication.

It’s about more than just language—it’s about helping them connect, belong, and succeed.

We will use the book shelves on the cart and the cube shelf to store our books and other literacy-based materials, the markers to write on our chart paper to discuss the stories, the magnets to hold up the chart paper, and I will use the magnetic paper organizer and book bins to keep track of lesson plans/activities and student work to put together a portfolio of their literacy learning from the year! The colored paper will allow the students to personalize their portfolios.
