This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm reaching out to seek your support for our end-of-year literacy raffle, celebrating the remarkable achievements of my freshman students in setting and accomplishing their SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound) reading goals. Throughout the year, students have diligently pursued their objectives, ranging from completing chapters in their novels to finishing entire books by specific dates. As an English and Enrichment teacher, it is my responsibility to equip students with literacy skills as well as soft-skills necessary for academic setting and the workforce. Creating SMART goals for reading books is intricately connected to college and career readiness in several ways: critical thinking and problem solving; time management; self-discipline and motivation; organization and planning.

To recognize their dedication and inspire further progress, I'm organizing a raffle where five lucky winners will receive gift cards.

To date, 43% of my Enrichment students have not only completed an entire book (of their choosing), but have moved on to book number 2 and/or 3. The remaining students are on track to hit their end of their year goal. These prizes will not only encourage continued reading but also reinforce vital life skills such as goal setting, time management, and organization. Your contribution to this initiative will make a meaningful difference in fostering a love for reading and empowering these students for lifelong success regardless of their future career pathway.
