My Students

Sixty-five percent of our student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. My classroom is made up of ethnically diverse, low and middle-income families. My classroom is all-inclusive​ and is comprised of English Language Learners, students receiving Special Education services, students with Autism and general education students. There are things that set my students apart. They are resilient and scrappy. They are incredibly creative and smart. They love reading and learning!

My students are inspirational change-makers, all they need is access to resources.

My Project

These materials will help bring literacy learning from the abstract to the concrete. Colored sand and bumpy craft screens will allow my learners to cement their knowledge while using motor-muscle memory. Using the screens, students will be able to feel letters as they verbalize letter sounds and learn letter formation. Colored tiles will help my students to blend and manipulate sounds and build words.

By donating to this project, you are making literacy concepts more easily accessible for all 125 of our kindergarten learners!

My students are already great learners, we just need some extra tools to make our classroom more multi-sensory and literacy concepts more accessible for my diverse students.
