I have a lively diverse group of students who are voracious readers. They have a wide range of reading levels and interests. Students are always combing my shelves for new reads. They are creative and love discussing literature.
Our project-based learning school encourages voice and choice in our learning opportunities.
My students are strong advocates for having personal choice in their reading materials. They also love to infuse technology into our literacy work. Making videos and digital posters about their reading spark a passion for reading and learning.
These materials will help promote our new Literacy Center to all our students in our K-8 building. By wearing the hoodies, students who are Literacy Leaders will get the word out and also be easily identified as mentors.
Having an article of clothing with our logo on it will also help our student leaders to feel professional while they are servicing our school.
Our new Literacy Center is student-centered and student-led. Student leaders are utilizing all the skills they have learned during the PBL experiences to bring this dream to life.
This is the first year of our Literacy Center and we are looking forward to creating an organization that will continue for years to come.
