Help me give my students who are kinesthetic learners an opportunity to use a standing desk to complete and focus on their literacy tasks. The standing desk will help promote student engagement and help build writing stamina.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The title of my project is "Literacy is the Link to Lifelong Learning." The goals of my project are: to help engage students in Literacy tasks in meaningful ways so that they may build reading and writing stamina, to promote higher levels of engagement for students of various learning styles, and to create a more conducive learning environment for students so that their most basic learning needs are met by having the supplies and materials readily available for them.
Specific items on my project list will help make a difference in learning for my students.
For example, the standing desk will support Kinesthetic learners as they complete various reading and writing tasks and give them the opportunity to build their reading and writing stamina. It will also allow those learners to be mobile around the classroom and move to a place in the room that best suits their learning needs. Also, the spinning prize will be used by the teacher to write in various learning tasks for students that would offer them voice and choice in how they display their learning.
An electric and effective pencil sharpener along with pre-sharpened pencils help maximize learning time in the classroom for students, makes for smooth transitions, and ensures that students are prepared to write and demonstrate their best work. Additionally, having post-it notes available for students to write on promotes active student engagement through the use of reflection/and or exit ticket parking lots, Affinity Maps, and various organizational learning processes. Furthermore, the Bananagram Word game promotes correct spelling of words and also the development of vocabulary terms new or unfamiliar to students.
Consequently, my students are so special because everyday they arrive at school ready to learn and they consistently demonstrate the potential that lies within. My students exemplify the diverse genius.
