Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach at a small, high-needs school in New York City, which specializes its instruction on the principles of architecture and design. Many of our students display an intellectual curiosity and excitement in applying what they have learned to the real world.

Unfortunately, due to severe budget cuts, our school can no longer afford basic supplies, such as books for each student. I constantly see myself photocopying passages from books, rather than providing students with a copy of their own to keep.

My students need 2 class sets of the novel "Wright 3" and reference books on Frank Lloyd Wright. The novel "Wright 3" is a book that combines solving mathematical puzzles with the work of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It would be wonderful if we could integrate true examples of architecture with mathematics and literacy.

Cross-curricular projects such as the exploration of this novel costs money -- money that my school unfortunately can not afford at the moment. Your donation will make it possible for my students to apply what they have learned into real-life examples, and have an appreciation for the rich history of architecture our country has. This type of learning is an important skill that a student needs in order to prepare for life in college.
