This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very active learners. We need new materials to foster actively learning the letters and their sounds.

We are a public school in a wonderful neighborhood.

I have the great privilege to teach three and four year olds in a preschool program. My students love being in school. Literacy is very important in our classroom. My students are very active learners.

My Project

I recently attended an awesome workshop on the differences in left and right brain learners. I was inspired to change my practice to accommodate all learners. I was introduced to truly active learning. In the workshop, children were leap frogging through pages of a book that had been attached to the floor. This was a first grade classroom. Could you imagine this approach with preschoolers? Using the carpet squares with the letters on each placed around the room, my students would have the ability to match letters with the bean bags, and leap frog from letter to letter, identifying them as they go. It would be a wonderful way for me to be able to tap in the mind of the most active learner.

These materials will make a tremendous impact on my students learning.

They will have new approaches to learning letters and sounds. This gift will enable me to tap into the learning styles of all of my students in a new, fun way.
