My students need a set of Reading Response Notebooks, a Teachers Resource Book, an Ipod for listening to classical music while reading, a set of speakers and an iMac computer.
Have you ever seen the excitement on a child's face when they feel proud about one of their accomplishments? Well, I feel very fortunate to see those smiles on a daily basis!! My students are excited about learning. They are especially passionate about reading and writing.
I am a 4th grade teacher in a high needs Title I school district.
I have a fantastic classroom of kids who are eager to learn. They are working very hard to achieve the goals they have set for the year. My students work very hard to be better readers and writers. I am excited to help them every step of the way on their journey!
My Project
Our class is in need of a few key items to help with our reading and writing skills. We really need a set of Reader's Notebooks. Each child will get their own Reader's Notebook to record their thoughts as they read stories. They will be responding to literature and keeping track of the books they read. We will also use these books to make connections to story writing. When we are reading and writing in class I like to play music. Lately we have been listening to a lot of piano and guitar music, but we would love to have an Ipod in class so our music selection will be a lot more varied. We are also hoping to get a classroom computer to use so my students can take Accelerated Reader tests, do research, and work on a computer based writing program. Our current computers does not work properly and is ready for the dumpster!
With these new learning resources my students will make some great learning gains in reading and writing.
