My students need help with basic reading skills, as that has been a huge focus for many of them this year. These tools will help them have even more success in this area. WE need dominos , sigh work games and more.
I am the elementary special education teacher at a small school in rural northern Minnesota. I work with students from Kindergarten through 7th grade so there is a large variety in the different characteristics of my students. I have about 20 students on my caseload that I work with (most of them every day). I love that they are all so different, and most of them want so badly to learn and get "better" so they can go back into the general education class. My job then becomes to teach them as much as I possibly can so they can learn and hopefully at least make progress. That is my only real goal.
Many of my students come from difficult family lives, with things like divorce, fostering, and adoption being much too frequent in the families around here.
The school is a Pre-K through 12th-grade school, and classes average about 20-30 students per class.
These products will make a big impact on the lives of my students. As a Special Education teacher, I work with a wide range of students, from those who are just slightly below grade level, to those that are many grade levels behind, trying to learn the basic reading or math skills.
These students all have one thing in common though-they are behind, and I want to do whatever in my power to get them even a few steps closer to grade level.
They also would all benefit from any kinds of hands-on manipulatives and materials that I can get ahold of. Most of the resources I am asking for will help my struggling readers. I work with many students who are past the stage of learning their letter names but just beginning the process of putting these letters together and making them into sounds and words. NASCO seems to have so many cool resources that will help them. Thankfully I will have most of my same students next year, so I know that what I am asking for with this will still be able to use by the exact kiddos that I am thinking about when ordering them.
