This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Since the pandemic, we have seen huge learning gaps among our middle school students in reading, fluency, and overall literacy development. Many of the students I work with during tutoring or in class need extra support and scaffolds in order for them to truly learn and understand the concepts we are introducing. What has been MOST successful for our school is providing our students with hands-on learning manipulatives for ELA to increase their learning ability, engagement, and general LOVE of reading. These tools will not only give my students the extra scaffolds they need to understand the common core standards they are learning but they will also be used to promote a love of literacy. By providing students with hands-on learning tools, they can stay engaged in the content they are learning in the classroom.
