Literacy in the Classroom

Help me give my students age appropriate books to read in English and Spanish and plays to go along with my puppets!

My Students

Students at OPA are wonderful! The school works hard to provide unique opportunities for them such as a running program, robotics, yoga, book clubs, and LEGO clubs. Our school is title one which means that most of our students come from low-income households. Many cannot afford basic needs. My goal is to provide a rich, stimulating, creative learning environment for each student! Many of my students are English language learners and need extra support academically. Please consider helping me create the best classroom I can!

My Project

First of all, I purchased a retiring teacher’s huge supply of puppets and would love some scripts for students to act out

Next, many of my students are English language learners.

I believe being literate in both languages is desirable and even critical!

Finally, I am searching for hands-on activities to learn math, grammar, and science.

These supplies will aid me in my quest to improve literacy primarily in English, but also support my ELA kids and their families. Drama, math, and grammar activities will make learning fun, and give kids a greater chance at learning and succeeding academically. Thanks for your help!
