Literacy In The Classroom

My Students

Some of my students do not get the chance to see honestly what is going on in the real world or read things coming from different genres. I hope that this will be their magical doorway to the world. Through this my students will want to learn more about different literacy topics.

My school is in a middle class area were they could use as much information about different things available to them through Literacy and informational text.

These students are fun-loving and want to learn more about the world around them as well as why things happen the way they do. They are like sponges wanting to gather in as much as they can hold.

My Project

My students will be learning about different genre types and how the story is put together from these magazines. Also, they will be learning what things are happening in the world, not just in their backyard. With these two magazines we will be able to do this on a weekly basis helping our brains to grow and learn more. They will also build a desire that will leave us wanting to keep reading and searching for information in different types of text. Through Storyworks and Scholastic News my students will be given experience with different genres as they also learn about current events.

This project will help make Literacy a very important part of my students lives giving them the want and desire to find more information elsewhere.

Showing the students that we feel Literacy is a very important part of their lives is so important. They will also see that we are willing to get them more Literacy learning materials than what they have available to them now.
