Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Kindergarten in a high-poverty community. 50% of my class are English as a Second Language (ESL) students. In today's economic status, my school has little or no money in the budget for teachers to order materials for the classroom.

The majority of my students come to school with little or no school supplies. I usually spend a good part of my check purchasing school supplies for my students along with other hands-on materials which will make learning easier for my students and stimulate their little minds.

My students would really benefit with a Literacy center that will help build skills they need to learn to read. From puzzles and sorting mats to fun-filled Mystery Boxes, nursery rhymes and more, these activity boxes are packed with materials that introduce and reinforce the fundamentals of reading! 4 boxes each feature 5 different activities that target a specific language concept—from alphabet knowledge to oral language skills. Also they could use a set of autobiography read-along books which will engage them in the richness of historical people from our past. These autobiography sets include 4 books with cassette for each autobiography. Finally, my classroom needs a Classroom News Pocket Chart.

Your help will make it possible for my students to engage in hands-on, brain stimulating centers and projects which will increase their learning potential.
