Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are kids full of energy and curiosity about new things and subjects. 90% of my students' first language is Spanish, and they learn all the subject areas in Spanish and English. In fifth grade, students learn both languages, and they need to be proficient in both languages by the end of the school year. They love arts and crafts, sports, and science.
My kids come from an immigrant neighborhood, and I share a lot of the same traditions and culture as they do.
Teaching is something that I enjoy and love. My goal this year is to inject art, social studies, and science into everything we learn. As their teacher, I need to work hard to motivate and energize my students and for them to take the learning process in a serious way. Students learn so many things when there is a good use of classroom resources and lessons.
My Project
I need games for my students that promote literacy. Students love to play while they are learning. My biggest challenge when I teach is to engage students that have a difficult time focusing.
These games will promote vocabulary and reading comprehension for students of all reading levels.
The best part of these games is that they have visual clues for any ESL and ELL student. These games come with different activities that can engage students from different proficiency levels. Additionally, vocabulary and reading comprehension are the most challenging areas of literacy that students face when learning reading. These games can facilitate the learning process for anybody.
