This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After a fire devastated our classroom three months ago, my students were left without any differentiated learning materials, or any materials at all. My students have special needs and are second language learners. They benefit most from fun and engaging activities to help them learn. Before the fire, my students had great success with hands-on activities based on the Science of Reading. 85% of my students have disabilities that affect their reading. As cognitive neuroscience has demonstrated, the greatest precursor to reading success is solid phonics instruction. My students need tools and strategies that go beyond our current school textbooks They specifically lack multimodal resources to enrich their phonics instruction. I am asking for five gift cards from Teacher Pay Teacher to purchase fun phonics resources for my students such as word mapping games, digital and interactive sounds walls, word study activities, syllable division games, and phonics mini books Science of Reading Literacy Center Word Work Games. These resources will provide my second language learning students with disabilities, opportunities to collaborate and play while increasing their phonics skills. Help my students become fluent readers while having fun!
