My Students

My students love to read! The come to school ready to dive into reading. They work hard. They care about each other. They ask for more silent reading time daily. They enjoy the quiet relaxing time curling up with a good book. We have pillows in the room for silent reading time that are always in demand.

We have quite a few different reading levels in our classroom, but my students are quick to help each other when someone is struggling.

They enjoy acting like the teacher when it comes time to partner read. All of my students are eager to help out a friend throughout the day. They offer each other their supplies if someone is missing a scissors, pencil or glue. Their many acts of kindness throughout the day make me so proud!

My Project

My goal for this project is to provide a variety of books for my students to practice their fluency and comprehension skills. In order to do this I will create more than one project like this one to add to our classroom library. According to Literacy Footprints, the kits contain sequenced, high-quality leveled texts in a variety of genres. Students will encounter traditional tales, realistic fiction, fantasy, and informational text.

My students will excel in their reading fluency and comprehension when they have books at their individual reading level.

They will be able to practice reading with a partner since the kit includes more than one copy of each book. What a great way to encourage more independent reading! This kit will be used daily in our classroom library.
