Help me give my students a better chance to increase their reading scores by providing them with tools to help improve focus, concentration, penmanship, and a 3-Tier Bookshelf to store more books.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is my first year as a Reading English Language Arts Teacher. I have the honor of being responsible for four classes of brilliant, creative, and resilient students. A large portion of my students are multi-language learners. Most of my students live in or are from low-income neighborhoods. Some of my students experience behavioral and learning challenges. All of my students seem to be recovering from the compromises in education that were made during the recent pandemic.
While reviewing the results of the reading assessments that took place at the beginning of this school year, I became alarmed at the number of students who scored below the reading level that is required for their grade.
I decided to make adjustments to help improve the overall reading and writing abilities of my students. I am hoping that these adjustments will result in the increase in the scores of the upcoming reading assessments at the end of the school year.
The items selected for my Literacy Emergency Project will provide my students with tools and resources that will create a more comfortable space that stimulates and empowers their learning. The 3-tier bookshelf will store the current and future books that will be used during the independent reading sessions. The seat cushions will help the students focus and concentrate better on the lesson while preventing them from experiencing fatigue. The handwriting and penmanship books will allow the students to prepare for the reading responses of the upcoming reading assessments. The audio device will be used for listening and speaking activities during the lessons.
