Mrs. Potter from Alberta VA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a set of Reading & Writing Instant Learning Centers.

I teach a lively bunch of 1st graders in a rural area of Virginia. We are a Title 1 school with a high percentage of children receiving free or reduced meals. Most of my children came to school this year without even basic supplies.
As I write this request we have only 15 days of school left and every day I am amazed at how far the students have come. These gains did not come easy, some of these children really "worked" for it. I have done all I could think of to provide motivation and add enthusiasm to the learning to read process.
Previous donors provided a set of literacy centers that were a huge "hit" with my class. They used them every day during independent time so that I could work with small reading groups. They enjoyed these centers so much that they even requested to use them at other times during the day. The skills they practiced at these centers helped them make huge gains in reading. My students need a set of Reading & Writing Learning Centers that will help them use descriptive words, recognize high frequency words, decode words & spell, sequence & summarize and recall facts & details.
As I think ahead to next year, I want to be able to provide even more literacy experiences to a new class. Your donation would provide a second set of literacy centers that would be a perfect complement to the centers we already use, and reinforce different skills that should help the students read even better. Please join with me to make their reading adventure a success.
