This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Who likes repeating the same activity over and over again? My kindergarteners don't! They get bored and do not stay engaged for long when they have to do the same activity repetitively.

My school is a Title One school.

We have 90% of our students on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students do not have a lot of games at home. I would love for my students to be able to have the opportunity to have the variety of literacy centers they need to truly learn while being engaged and love what they are doing! This also provides the opportunities for them to share and learn to play and get along with their classmates!

My Project

In kindergarten, we spend a lot of our instructional time in literacy centers. These are learning games-they learn while having fun. The children get bored when they have to repeat the same activity day after day. Since we are always learning new things, we truly need a variety of centers. I believe my students learn best by playing and staying engaged. During center time, the students are doing activities in which they learn. These games are very costly which makes it difficult to provide new centers weekly. This project will enable us to get some newly deserved centers!

My students need a variety of literacy centers to help them learn and remain engaged while I am conducting guided reading groups or testing students.

Children learn best when they have hands-on activities to do rather than worksheets. But they need a variety of them and this will truly help my students!
