This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These Literacy materials will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy learning and engaging in our Literacy centers where they can choose their learning activity. Students with learning disabilities need "hands on" activities to foster their phonics skills and build up their confidence levels. All of these Literacy materials have been chosen with my students in mind, so they can grasp the concept of emergent reading, alphabetic fluency, words, and spelling patterns, and decoding and words fluently and independently. Research shows that Literacy development is a process that begins in early childhood from ages 3 to 8 in their primary grades from early phonemic awareness and explicit phonics instruction along with hands on literacy activities can support language and literacy development.

The best way to increase reading ability is to have students engage in a variety of hands on learning materials that promote Literacy as well as meet their individual learning styles.

I am certain that these literacy activities will foster my students' learning abilities as well as their interests, and continue to help my students grow into independent readers. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in word building skills, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with their decoding and whole word knowledge.

The special literacy materials that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional options to choose a literacy center and make effective learning choices. These phonics activities will be extremely beneficial for some students that need visuals and hands on materials that can interest their learning time.

I have remarkably seen how student choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional Literacy options will help us grow even more!
