This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Welcome! Universal Transitional Kindergarten is such a special place be! I am so lucky I get to spend my days watching these young ones discover and learn. Literacy is key in UTK, we spend a lot of time working on phonemic awareness, alphabet and writing skills. Literacy centers incorporate hands-on activities designed to reach students at their specific level of learning and offer meaningful learning experiences where students can work independently or collaboratively to meet literacy goals. Creative exploration with literacy materials encourages learning with curiosity and excitement about alphabetic principals, reading and writing.
Education is very important to our thriving, multi-cultural school.
Our school is located in City Heights, above the hustle and bustle of the geographic center of San Diego. Many new immigrants find their first home on American soil here in our neighborhood. Eighty-five percent of students are English learners with non-English speakers in the home. Your donation can help build their reading and writing skills with hands on literacy centers!
