Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like to learn to read and write in Kindergarten?
We are a Kindergarten dual language immersion classroom at a public school in Connecticut.
Our students are learning to speak, read and write in English and Spanish. This is a wonderful program that creates bilingual learners in both languages. Our students are excited and motivated to become lifelong language learners.
My Project
Our students represent a large culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners. I work with students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments and students who benefit from small group interventions. My students need an "All About Letters" pocket chart to learn their letters and the sounds they make. They need vocabulary journal to develop vocabulary. We need storage bins, a chart caddy and additional chart caddies so that we have a place to store these items.
My students would definitely benefit from using the chart and storage materials in the classroom.
These items will allow them to gain more practice with reading and writing and give them a place to store these items. With these items for my classroom, my students can have fun and at the same time expand their ability to learn letters and write.
