This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 1st graders are filled with brilliance. Though we face challenges in our high-needs school, I am nonetheless endeavoring to create rich, meaningful learning experiences for our children. I want to ensure that our students of color, our English language learners, and our students of all backgrounds are able to access our curriculum and cultivate their learning skills. With the right supports, my 1st graders can achieve academically, grow their natural curiosities, and develop a deep respect for themselves and those around them.

My Project

My students yearn for the opportunity to explore and grow their literacy and math skills. Our centers currently lack sufficient materials to truly facilitate a better understanding of key foundational skills. Not only will these manipulatives ignite their interests and curiosities, but they will also improve their academic performance.

Literacy and math centers promote cooperation among peers.

Learning with others is a powerful component of education and one in which I would like to encourage fully. They will be able to manipulate the objects through inquiry and make sense of these concepts with a good balance of support and independence.
