Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom has a bare minimum of materials, and I would really like my students to have more options that encourage literacy. The classroom needs more books like Clifford and Lois Ehlert books, as well as activities that encourage letter recognition.

Our school is Title 1, and many of the students are English Language Learners.

My students are in Pre-K and are just beginning their educational journey. At home, the students either have a non-existent library, or are reading the same few books over and over.

My Project

Our classroom needs more materials that promote literacy in general, but more specifically letter sense. I also want to be able to provide a lending library for the students in order to extend the classroom to their home and encourage more reading all around.

This project will not only add to our limited classroom and make it a more enriching environment for the students to learn in, but it will also create a bridge between school and home.

By connecting the school to their home, the students will have a stronger foundation that will support their future school success.
