Literacy Alive! Augmented Reality in Kindergarten

My Students

My community has a very low socioeconomic status. Research suggests that students of low socioeconomic backgrounds are at greater risk because of limited access to opportunities and materials.

Education is changing rapidly as well as the way my students learn and how I as a teacher need to deliver information to them.

Not only will this software help my students become engaged, but it will also address many important foundational skills they will need to become successful readers and writers. Some of those skills include: letter naming, letter sounds, phonological awareness, word building, punctuation skills, sentence building, reading and comprehension, vocabulary skills, social/emotional skills, and it addresses kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learners.

My Project

The Alive Studios software, Letters Alive, is an amazing software that brings learning alive. Literally! The software uses augmented reality to turn letters, sight words, and picture cards into three-dimensional moving objects! It is absolutely amazing! Students will be amazed when I show the letter B card and it says the letter, makes the sound, and a realistic bear POPS out of the card and ROARS! When I use the cards "The bear is red," the bear will turn red. When the students learn to build their own sentence it will come ALIVE right before their eyes! Imagine the excitement on their faces!

Research shows a 48% increase in letter naming fluency and 112% increase in letter sound fluency with the use of this software!

This interactive software is just what my kindergartners need to keep them engaged, excited, and learning!
