Literacy Activities for Kinder - Help Us Learn To Read!
My students need phonemic awareness activities to work with as they move from letter sounds to building and reading words.
My students have come so far already this year and they still have a long way to go to get them all reading by the end of the year. My kiddos are all English Language Learners & have almost all learned to recognize their letters and make the sounds. Now we need activities to further those skills.
My students are from at-risk backgrounds and the entire school receives free breakfast and lunch.
They are wonderful children who are eager to learn. They also have language as a challenge, as most are English Language Learners. We have limited resources for literacy stations and really need these supplies.
The activities I have chosen for my wonderful students will help them to use their new letter sound and recognition skills to get the next level - building and reading simple words. They will be able to independently practice identifying beginning, middle and ending sounds in 3 letter words. This is an important skill.
This will make a big difference in our classroom as we have very few literacy resources for the students.
It is critical to keep them engaged in the literacy activities and having nice games like this is just the way to do it as they can be rotated throughout the rest of the year.
