My students need literacy materials such as a c.d. player with read alongs, a cabinet to store books, book shelves to store seasonal books, and a big book center.
After the tornado distroyed our elementary school and neighborhood, most of the student items and my items were not able to be used again.
My students attend a Title 1 school.
Nearly 70-80% of their homes were destroyed in the recent tornado. As the school year has begun, I have learned that they love to read. They are constantly getting out their books to read any chance they can. They have such a great friendship with one another. They are very kind and generous to the whole class.
My Project
I am trying to rebuild my classroom that was demolished by a tornado. These literacy materials and storage will allow my students to have a more organized classroom, so that they have a feeling of safety and comfort. I have learned how much my students love to read. They enjoy going to the reading center and picking out a new book. There is not a lot of storage to place all the books I have received. I would love to a have more storage so that they have a more books to selective from.
This would not only mean a lot to me but for my students to receive such wonderful resources.
My students have been through so much and I would love to try to make the classroom a safe environment again.
